In the musical language we sometimes want to hold notes for
longer than a measure or for different time periods.
We can actually place a curved line between two
notes which "ties" the notes together and means that we hold
down that note for the total of all the beats of each note.
Below is an example of "When the Saints" with
the last 2 notes tied together.
In this example, the Middle C note is held down for a total of 5
beats.
(4 for the second last measure and 1 for the last measure)
