Common Questions Asked By New ViCommon Questions Asked By New Visitors:
I'm new to this site. Can I get free
music or do I have to pay for everything?
There is lots of free music that you do not need to pay for.
Go here to see and get an explanation of our free music. If you have not
yet registered on our site you can get a
free membership here
What type of file formats will I find on
this site?
What plug-ins or software do I need to install? (if I don't already have them)
You will need the free Scorch plug-in to view Scorch files, the free Solero
software for Solero files, and Adobe reader for our PDF files.
Of course if you download our Sibelius, XML, or Finale files then you will
generally own the notation software for these files.
Our Midi files can be played through most computers using the standard midi
player such as Quick Time or Windows Media player.
Why don't you just offer files in one format?
The reason is that not all music is available in all formats from all
publishers. By offering Scorch and Solero as the 2 main sheet music viewer
formats, we can offer you the largest library on the web.'
The reason we offer Sibelius, XML, Finale, PDF and Midi files is to allow
others to download these files and use them for their own educational or
personal use.
What is the difference between your
public domain files and licensed files?

ABOUT BECOMING AN EMERALD MEMBER
We introduced our popular Emerald membership
years ago which is an extremely valuable license for all music
teachers, schools, churches, all music organizations and any
music lovers. Here is what you get with an Emerald membership:
Not only can Emerald members download and/or
print unlimited copies of files from our public domain free
library (over 11,000 files available) but our goal is to
increase this library to over 100,000 files. We will always keep
the first 11,000 free, but all new additions beyond that will be
for Emerald members only. So as an example, when the library
reaches 50,000 there will be 11,000 free and 39,000 that can be
downloaded or printed for free by Emerald members only.
To help us build this library and make this a
truly incredible resource for you, we also allow any Emerald
member to upload their own sheet music files to our library.
This is done in real time so your files will show up
immediately. Files that you upload will be available for all
other Emerald members to download and print at no additional
charge.
All Emerald members can also have their own web
page on Sheet Music Digital. Your web page is used to display
your uploaded files so that other Emerald members can see your
music and you will be able to see others as well.
(go here to see an example from one
of our teachers - Mary Misiak)
All Emerald members also receive a 20% discount
on any of the licensed digital Scorch files that they purchase.
This means that a Scorch file that is normally purchased for
$4.50 by non-Emerald members can now be purchased for $3.60.
All Emerald members receive a 20% discount on
any music book for traditional delivery to home or business.
If a private music teacher, school, church or
any other organizations purchase a lifetime Emerald membership
then, any and all students or members associated to that
teacher, school church or organization also get a lifetime
Emerald membership for free using a unique registration key that
is generated at the time of purchase.
All Emerald members can access their license
from school, church, home or any computer world wide where you
can install Scorch or the Solero Music Reader as you only need
to log into your account through your browser. This gives you
tremendous flexibility when you need to access your files.
