About Scorch Sheet Music

How To Modify a Scorch Score For Different Instruments

At Sheet Music Digital, you can change the top line of all of our Scorch titles to most instruments. (except for guitar tab music on pay and play titles)

The main advantage in being able to change instruments is if you are learning an instrument such as clarinet or saxophone, the melody line will be automatically transposed into the correct key for that instrument.

You can then play-a-long with the sheet music on your computer!

Look at the sheet music sample below. Notice that the melody line is in the key of C.
If someone is playing a B flat clarinet and plays this music along with the Scorch file, the pitch on the clarinet will not be the same as the music - as it will play 2 half-steps lower.

To select a different instrument click on the "substitute instrument" icon right above the music.
When the instrument box opens up, select "Clarinet in Bb"

When you click on the OK - the melody of the score will immediately be rewritten correctly for the Bb clarinet.

It will transpose into the proper key to match the piano and will play using the clarinet sound.
When you print the song again, it will print the new arrangement!

Notice in the example below, the melody line has now been changed to the key of D.
When the clarinetist now plays the melody line, it will sound in the same pitch as the piano part in C.
You can still transpose the score to any key you want and the melody line clarinet will be at the proper
pitch to match the piano part on the bass staff.

Experiment with the score below and try selecting different instruments to see
how the top line of the music will change.

TIP: To reload the original score just reload or refresh the page. It is a good idea to refresh the page before each selection as changing instruments without refreshing can cause the
music to display with unnecessary accidentals.
