If you find any of these songs useful, please consider becoming a member of this site. I am happy and proud to be a member and it has been a great investment that has reaped huge dividends. I have gotten a lot more out of this site than I could ever hope to put in and I am genuinely grateful.
I am a semi-retired Folksinger, retired Army Bandsman, currently teaching Guitar Ensemble, String Ensembles, Concert Choir, and Recorder Ensemble, grades 3 - 8. Next time I retire though, I am going right back into folk singing. (It keeps me humble)
Songs are like children. They have to get out on their own and find their own identity. I started the process by writing them, but you complete the process by learning them, passing them down to young minds, and keeping them alive. I sincerely hope that one or two of my little songs will live on past the time when anyone will know I actually wrote them. It is the sweetest form of immortality I could possibly think of. You can find free MP3s of my folk songs on Soundclick.com
here.
Leave me a message if you drop by. I would love to know what you think of my primitive efforts. I will also be mentioning that my songs will be written down here, so don't get stuck in a loop. I have had to depend on people who are wiser than me in the ways of technology all of my life. It doesn't bother me, but I am grateful that they are so gracious as well as generous. If you need any of these in a different format, give me a shout and if I am not in the middle of concert season, I will be glad to consider your request.

>>>We Went over 70,000 downloads, so the next goal is to get to 100,000. (Maybe even by the end of the year? < hope, hope >) When I was first invited to this webpage, I never thought it was possible, but now I have to admit that I am genuinely hopeful.
>>>Three songs have gone over 1,000 downloads now. I can't wait to find material that is at least as useful. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated.
>>>Finally got the Sol-Feg files uploaded. I would love to get feedback on these.
I would love to hear if something you found on this page convinced you to become a member. I don't get anything for it and I'm not looking for bragging rights. I would just like to know if this page is helping out Mike in any way. I don't want his generosity to me, to become a burden for this site. If something else was a deciding factor, be sure and let Mr. Daly know about that as well. If there is anything that any one of us can do to keep this online, I'm sure we can find a way to get it done. Oh, and if you actually read down this far, thank you bunches. My students are used to me but I may be a bit overwhelming to the general public.

Description: Kind of a sixties to seventies salute to soft rock. This guitar ensemble piece includes strumming and sounds best when accompanied by electric bass, although it is not mandatory.
Description: This is a traditional Spiritual Round that can be performed Acappella, with Guitar Accompaniment, Piano Accompaniment, or even with Strings. I try to share this song with everyone that I can. Now, you can too! I first heard it from Don MacClean, but there are as many different versions of this song as there are minutes in the day.
Description: This is a page that contains two separate Rounds. Babylon is a traditional Spiritual, and White Coral Bells is an English Fold Song. Shorthand notation is included on a separate page.
Product Number: 1013000061 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: This is a chart I put together for one of my groups that wanted something "different" to do. I hope you enjoy it, heck I hope they do too!
Product Number: 1012000457 Series: Recorder Ensemble Pages: 1
Description: This was originally going to be called Pulling Taffy, but my mother listened to it and said that it sounded like Folklorico dancers. So, I asked my Spanish speaking friends what Dance of Christmas sounded like and they helped me come up with this title. My first year ensemble is going to be playing this with the fifth grade guitar ensembles this year. Wish us luck.
Product Number: 1012004123 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: This is a second year guitar ensemble piece without shorthand notation. If you need shorthand notation I can always write it out for you so let me know. We actually did this with a Ballerina at a local Adult Daycare Center and it was very well received.
Description: One of my later efforts, this actually has a score and slightly more defined parts. Students pretty much want to play this one every year.
Product Number: 1012004220 Series: Guitar Educational Pages: 1
Description: This is a way for beginning guitar students to learn to tune their guitars. The first two methods are a way to tune the guitar to itself, and the rest of the sheet talks about how you can tune your guitar to a fixed pitched instrument, a pitch pipe, tuning fork, or an electronic tuner. I will be adding an additional sheet later on, discussing how to use harmonics, how to tune against the Open E, and how to check the notes that you tune up the neck (anything past the fifth fret)
Description: Original composition for three guitars. The second page contains shorthand notation for beginners, as well as for students with special needs.
Description: This is a one page sheet with all of the parts on it. Students love to play around with this. Since we can't clap with a bow in our hands, sometimes we knock on the wood, and sometimes we pull the bow over to the other side of the bridge and go "Squeek" (I-N-G-O) "Squeek - Squeek (N-G-O) and so on. It's real silly but if your group is in the right mood, lots of fun!
Product Number: 1012000551 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 1
Description: This is a collage of various Bass and lead riffs that pays tribute to the those first few snippets of songs we all try to master before we go on to write our own. This is a lot of fun for beginning to intermediate guitar ensembles. Enjoy.
Product Number: 1012000308 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 1
Description: This is a second year guitar ensemble arrangement that was written so we could have a little bit of fun. It reinforces the blues scale, as well as the concept of moving up and down the neck with an E7 chord. The chords used are E7, A7 and D so if your students are having trouble with the B7 chord it will not be an issue here. You can repeat the body of the tune as often as you like if you want to explore improvisation possibilities, or just play the song the way it lays. It looks and sounds a lot more complex than it really is. I hope you enjoy it as much as we have.
Description:
This song is a flirt. You should never even consider speaking this way unless you are already comfortable with a person and know that they are not offended by a little verbal badinage. If you have a mutual understanding however, it can be a lot of fun.
Product Number: 1012000309 Series: Recorder Ensemble Pages: 2
Description: One of my students said that this sounded like candy, so we named it Bon Bon. This is published with and without shorthand notation.
Description: First to second year guitar solo or optional duet. Shorthand notation included on the second page for beginners or students with disabilities
Product Number: 1012004124 Series: Guitar Ensemble Pages: 4
Description: This is a first to second year guitar ensemble piece. I included shorthand notation, as well as a separate Bass Part. Students seem to get really enthusiastic about playing this piece. More than a few students have come back from the lofty halls of their High Schools to raid my bins one more time. This is one of the pieces that they take with them. They also ask for this by e-mail and I am very happy that I finally have a place to send them to download it. Thanks Mike.
Description:
This came from a story that my Mom sent to a magazine. They decided not to publish it and I decided that it might make a good song so I asked her to let me fool with it and she graciously consented. It is based on a real life event and it involves my namesake, who happens to be my stepfather!
